Following a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office issued earlier today, Rajah & Tann LLP announces with great pride that its Managing Partner, Mr Sundaresh Menon SC, will be appointed Attorney-General of Singapore with effect from 1st October 2010.

Mr Menon joined the Firm in 1995.  In 2003, he left for a stint at an international law firm and then as a  Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court.  He served as a Judicial Commissioner from 3 April 2006 to 2 April 2007, whereupon he re-joined the Firm as its Senior Partner. Mr Menon assumed the post of Managing Partner of the Firm on 15 August 2009, and will continue as Managing Partner until he retires from the Firm on 30 September 2010.

The Firm warmly congratulates Mr Menon on the appointment and wishes to express a debt of gratitude to him for his leadership, vision and immense contributions to the Firm.  The Firm also celebrates its rich tradition of having its lawyers being appointed to the highest ranks of the legal profession.

The Firm would like to further announce that Mr Lee Eng Beng SC, who was appointed Deputy Managing Partner on 15 August 2009, has been appointed as Joint Managing Partner with Mr Menon. Mr Patrick Ang has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Partner of the Firm. Mr Goh Kian Hwee will continue as Senior Partner (Corporate) while Mr Andre Yeap SC has been appointed as Senior Partner (Dispute Resolution).  These appointments take immediate effect.
