Rajah & Tann LLP The Only Asian Law Firm Amongst Top 30 International Arbitration Practices

Global Arbitration Review, a premier London-based publication on international arbitration, recently released an approved list of the top 30 international arbitration practices in the world (“GAR 30”).

Rajah & Tann LLP was once again the only Asian law firm in the GAR 30. It was ranked 27th based on objective data supplied by all the leading law firms worldwide. The rest of the firms ranked in the GAR 30 are from the United States, North America and Europe.

Rajah & Tann LLP was also included in the list of top 100 arbitration practices for the 3rd consecutive year, a feat unmatched by any law firm in Singapore.

The results will be published in the 3rd edition of the Global Arbitration Review 100.

Chong Yee Leong, head of international arbitration practice at Rajah & Tann LLP, said: “I am delighted that for the 2nd consecutive year, Rajah & Tann LLP has been named in the top 30 international arbitration practices in the world. While it remains the only Asian firm in this list, I look forward to more Asian firms making it as this region becomes a much more important market for international arbitration. I am especially grateful to all our dispute resolution lawyers for the great job done by each of them in sustaining the firm's position on the global map for international arbitration. This is especially satisfying coming at a time of increasingly tough competition."

Aside from its standalone international arbitration practice, Rajah & Tann LLP has extensive industry-specific arbitration expertise within a number of practice groups including the Shipping, Insolvency & Restructuring, TMT, Insurance & Reinsurance, Major Projects & Infrastructure and Commercial Litigation practice groups.

About GAR 100 Research

The GAR 100 is the only globally available dedicated publication on international arbitration with a detailed research and audit process.

The research process for the 2010 edition of the GAR 100 covered a 2-year period from August 2007 to August 2009. Law firms were required to submit on 24 questions covering practice aspects relating to constitution of the practice as well as on experience relating to representations as counsels and arbitrators. Firms were also required to compile data on its representation in merit hearings over the last two years as well as the pending arbitrations and the total quantum value of this portfolio.
The GAR 100 is a guide to the international arbitration capabilities of law firms. The GAR 100 is also an ‘approved list’, since it only contains firms that have been audited for the qualities of arbitral specialisation.
